What worries me is if theye’re slower, there may be a higher chance of corruption in the array. Those 4 ports are for raid configuration only, so you cannot use them for individual hard drives. I have a PC with the intel dxbx board and four 2TB sata drives in it. You can’t store the image on a partition you’re going to delete and then recover the image and you can’t store the image on the same partition you’re backingup. So, it’s actually a tiny bit faster when OC’d.

I was benching a Raid0 on a Bad Axe last night. What’s more important is whether the plain SATA ports get slower, too.

You can’t store the image on a partition you’re going to delete and then recover the image and you can’t store the image on the same partition you’re backingup. And so on until you have all your drives added. There are four more SATA ports below these and they are blue.

But in windows you can only get to two of them. Tried the Sil first and it is slow but unaffected by overclocking assuming because it runs on the locked PCI bus. So either the busses are not locked which is HIGHLY unlikely since they would be so out of spec the system would never boot and function, or the software is at fault. These drives are connected to the black sata connectors, not the blue.
I have never seen anything quite like this. For some reason when my computer was built they connected my drives to the Silicon Image d957xbx in a RAID0 configuration using a softraid instead of the intel hardware option.
